The history of VetAbroad started in 2010 and we have gone through varied changes.
VetAbroad® was founded and run by Dr. Luis Sainz-Pardo between 2010 and 2019. Dr. Luis is a 1993 graduate of the University of Extramadura, Spain, and has had extensive experience in the veterinary world. After first working as an employed vet in the UK, he bought his own practice in 1998. Under his leadership it became one of the first in the UK to be awarded the BSAVA standard and was later accredited Tier 2 accreditation by the RCVS. On his return to Spain in 2007 Luis worked as a consultant for a major veterinary group. He spent years extending his expertise researching, advising and consulting in practice and academia in over 16 countries. He was also responsible for the growth of one of the major veterinary groups in Spain.
A new leaf
At the end of 2019, Dr. Luis stepped down and Dr. Andreia Dias joined the cause. Dr. Andreia graduated in 2014 and started her career in the UK. She has worked in diferente roles and types of practice, from first opinion to referral, and was part of the first cohort to complete the ISFM Advanced Certificate in Feline Behaviour, having done so with Distinction. Dr. Andreia has dedicated much of her career to support international vets in their transition to UK practice with the brand UK VetMove, for which she was selected as a finalists of the 2019 BVA Young Vet of the Year Award. Dr. Andreia continues her career in clinical practice in the UK and Portugal and is dedicated to the idea of “whole-being”, a complete and balanced development of the veterinary professional individual that translates into “better people making a better world”.
The VetAbroad® team understands exactly what it takes to move abroad and start a successful veterinary career. VetAbroad® is proud to have helped many non-UK vets adapt to professional life in the UK and wants to extend this legacy worldwide.
